What We Are Doing in Social Studies This Week
For parents/guardians, if you are curious about what your student is learning (or looking for other questions to ask students besides "How was school?") please see the information below. Each week will have a description of topics/activities covered and potential follow-up questions.
September 8 - 12 : Class Introduction and Native Americans - After sharing their "Your Story, Our Story" projects, students will review the difference between fact, opinion and inferences. Students will practice distinguishing between these three items through learning about Native Americans and, specifically, analyzing real and replica Native American artifacts. Possible questions to ask students: What "Your Story, Our Story" project from your class stood out to you and why? Which Native American cultural region is your group focusing on? What kinds of Native American artifacts are you analyzing in class?
